Farm leaders including Jagjit Singh Dallewal, Sarvan Singh Pandher detained in Mohali | India News – The Times of India

BATHINDA: Despite assurances from Punjab ministers that there were no plans to disrupt farm leaders or the two protest sites, Mohali Police detained several farmer leaders as they began their return journey from Chandigarh. Among those detained were fasting farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha leader Sarvan Singh Pandher.

The farmers were traveling back to the Shambhu border from Chandigarh, from where Dallewal and other leaders were supposed to proceed to Khanauri. However, they were detained upon reaching the Jagatpura area. Dallewal was taken into custody while inside his ambulance, while others were detained along with their vehicles after some resistance from the farmers. Pandher was detained from his vehicle, though reports suggest he attempted to flee.
The farmers had anticipated such action but believed it would take place at the protest sites in Shambhu and Khanauri.
Those detained were swiftly taken away by the police and transported to different locations.
