Shooting at hospital in Michigan, suspect on loose – The Times of India


A shooting occurred at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital in Michigan early Thursday, police reported. The 8am incident appears isolated, but the suspect remains at large, the police said. Troy Police urged the public to avoid the area. The hospital is about 25 miles north of downtown Detroit.
“We can confirm there has been a shooting at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital. This appears to be an isolated incident however the Suspect is not in custody,” Troy police said in a statement on X.
Although the police statement did not confirm any injuries or fatalities, Fox 2 reported quoting a Corewell spokesperson that one victim was receiving treatment in the emergency department. The spokesperson also said that the hospital is in lockdown.
The Troy School District assured that its classrooms were safe, adding, “We’ve enhanced security and are working with local authorities to monitor the situation. Schools remain open, prioritising the safety of students and staff.”
Troy, with a population of over 87,000, is located about 35 kilometres north of Detroit.
