NEW DELHI: Four people were killed and 17 others injured when a bus and a taxi collided on the Srinagar-Sonamarg road in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, officials reported.
The accident occurred at Gund, causing major damage to both vehicles. Initially, 21 people were injured in the collision, with four later succumbing to their injuries.
Officials indicated that the deceased were likely tourists, as they were traveling in a taxi with Madhya Pradesh registration plates.
The remaining 17 injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment at local facilities.
In a separate incident, Four people died and five were injured when a car crashed into a divider in Begusarai, Bihar early Sunday morning around 3.40 am as they were returning from a wedding.
The accident reportedly occurred due to the driver feeling drowsy after leaving the wedding at 2 am.
The injured individuals have been admitted to a hospital where they are currently receiving treatment, according to Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Subodh Kumar.
One of the injured passengers informed authorities that the driver was feeling sleepy when they departed from the wedding celebration at 2 am, which led to the tragic accident.
“Some people were returning from a wedding. The driver rammed the car into the divider, and four people died in the accident. Another five people are injured and they are under treatment. One of the injured has said that they had left the Baraat (wedding procession) at 2 am, and the driver may have been drowsy, resulting in the accident. The accident is said to have happened at 3.40 am,” said Kumar.
