Google CEO Sundar Pichai left ‘wondering’ on this ‘Sundar IPL mystery’ – The Times of India

Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently replied to an X user’s post, questioning why cricketer Washington Sundar was benched during the latest IPL match. Sundar, part of the Gujarat Titans, was left out of the playing XI alongside Glenn Phillips, sparking confusion among fans. An X user, Pushkar voiced his frustration on the platform, writing “How Sundar sneaks into the best 15 of India but doesn’t get a place in any IPL XI when 10 teams exist is a mystery”. The post caught Google CEO’s attention who replied saying “I have been wondering this too”, adding a smile at the end.

In their opening match of the IPL 2025 season at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, the Gujarat Titans won the toss. Consequently, Titans’ captain Shubman Gill opted to field first. The Punjab Kings capitalized on this decision, posting a formidable total of 243 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Shreyas Iyer led the charge with an unbeaten 97 off 42 balls, while debutant Priyansh Arya contributed a brisk 47 from 23 deliveries. Shashank Singh provided a late surge, scoring an unbeaten 44 off just 16 balls.
In response, the Gujarat Titans put up a valiant effort. Sai Sudharsan anchored the innings with a well-crafted 74, and Jos Buttler added a quick 54 from 33 balls. Despite these contributions, the Titans concluded their innings at 232 for 5, falling short by 11 runs.
