NEW DELHI: The Chepauk DJ at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai took a playful dig at wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma following his dismissal on Friday. The moment unfolded during the 18th over of RCB’s innings when Jitesh, who had scored 12 off just six balls, including a four and a six, was walking back to the pavilion after being dismissed by CSK’s Sam Curran.
As Jitesh made his way off the field, the stadium DJ turned up the volume and played the viral song “Dosa, Idli, Sambar, Chutney,” which was originally released in 2022 but has recently gained massive popularity, especially in meme culture.
The trolling stemmed from a recent RCB video that went viral ahead of the match. In the clip, players were asked what came to mind when they thought of Chennai. While most gave casual responses, Jitesh sang, “Dosa, Idly, Sambar, Chutney Chutney,” a move that many CSK fans interpreted as a stereotype of South Indian culture.
On the field, RCB dominated as tight bowling spells from pacers Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal helped them secure a convincing 50-run victory over CSK.
