NEW DELHI: Two Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces at the Kondagaon-Narayanpur border, Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, officials said.
According to inspector general of police (Bastar Range), P Sundarraj, search operations are currently under way.
An AK-47 rifle and two bodies were recovered from the site.

Three Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the forests of insurgency-hit Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division on 12 April, officials said.
According to police, the gunfight broke out around 9 am following a tip-off about Maoist movement near the Indravati Tiger Reserve. Acting on the intelligence, a joint team of security personnel launched an anti-Maoist operation in the dense forest area.
The encounter continued with intermittent exchange of fire until noon.
Officials confirmed that the Maoists suffered significant casualties, with several believed to be injured.
So far, the bodies of two Maoist cadres have been recovered from the site.
