NAVI MUMBAI: A person from Satara district has allegedly used Aadhaar card numbers of 30 persons to file 30 different applications and get benefits of Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana in a single cooperative bank account in the name of 26 of the applicants so far.
The person has used one woman’s photograph in different dresses, portraying her as 27 different persons to avail of the benefits, according to a complaint filed with Panvel tehsil office.The matter came to light when a Kharghar resident, Pooja Mahamuni (27), found that her application was submitted and approved with a mobile used by someone else.
She had sought assistance of a former corporator of Panvel city MC, Nilesh Baviskar, to apply for the scheme on Aug 28. On Aug 29, when she logged in using her mobile number, the system red-flagged her with a message: “Application already submitted… and its status is APPROVED”.
Baviskar started inquiring into the matter. When he called the mobile number mentioned in the message received and convinced accused to share the OTP. He found that there were 30 beneficiaries linked to the same mobile number.
A complaint was filed with Panvel tehsil office seeking appropriate action. No FIR is filed in the matter yet.
