‘For the first time in Uttarakhand history … ‘: CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on UCC, anti-cheating law at TOI Dialogues – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reiterated that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented soon in the state. At the second edition of TOI Dialogues in Uttarakhand, the chief minister spoke about the historic anti-cheating law and credited the people of the state for these policies.
“We will implement UCC soon. But the real credit for this goes to the people of Uttarakhand.Since the formation of the state, people have changed the government every 5 years. In 2022, we went to people and said that we would form the same law for every individual in the state if voted to power. And people also history by voting for the same government in a row. We have also continued the work to fulfill people’s expectations,” he said.
On the anti-cheating law, Dhami said, “Our state is full of hard-working people. People prioritise their children’s education … But because of the nexus of cheating mafias, the ones studying hard never get selected. Earlier, only those who were working with these mafias, cheating from pendrives, or getting paper leaked were getting selected. When young people told me this, I ordered an inquiry into these examinations. The probe revealed several such cases in many job selection examinations. Any decision was also difficult — the whole system would get affected by cancelling the examinations and some people out of these had actually worked hard, and sincerely studied for the examination,” CM Dhami said.
“But to remove a disease from the root, we must make sacrifice,” he added.

“We took action and as a result over 100 cheating mafias are now behind bars. And this is not it. We also studied other states across the country to make a law so that it is not repeated. And in the anti-cheating act that we passed, the punishments include life imprisonment and impounding all his property. As a result, now examinations are being held impartially. We have had over 16,000 recruitments and none of the cases have gone to the court, no case of cheating has been recorded,” he said.
Talking about water resource management, Dhami thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving the major Jamrani and Song dam projects.
On unemployment, CM Dhami said, “At the time I took oath as the CM, I had decided on that very day that I would fill all the vacant positions in all the state government departments. So we started a drive during which the anti-cheating act was made.”

“Since the government vacancies are limited, our main focus is self-employment,” he said. “We recently invited over 50 countries and asked them to invest in the state. But our government will give preference to those who will give importance to the employment of our people,” CM Dhami said.
“Soon a smart industrial city will be made in the area of 1,200-acre in Khurpia. It is expected to create over 75,000 direct/indirect jobs,” Dhami said.
