Patient’s attendant harasses woman doctor on night duty at BHU hospital | Varanasi News – Times of India


VARANASI: A resident doctor at Sir Sunder Lal Hospital of Banaras Hindu University has alleged harassment by a patient’s attendant while she was on night duty in the maternal and child health wing.
BHU chief proctor Prof SP Singh on Monday confirmed getting the victim’s complaint on e-mail and said a probe has been started. Further action would be taken soon after investigation, he said.
The woman doctor in her complaint alleged that when she was on duty at MCH wing on Saturday evening, when a patient’s attendant started pressuring her to talk to the head of the department while posing as a staff of the chief medical officer.When she said that the HoD could be contacted only by following the protocol, the man called a student and they both misbehaved with her. The complainant said after she raised an alarm the duo fled. However, no security personnel turned up even after she raised an alarm, the doctor alleged.
She emailed her complaint to the HoD, the chief proctor and senior officials of the hospital. Taking a serious note of the incident, the Resident Doctors Welfare Society of IMS-BHU expressed its concern to the senior BHU officials.
