FIR against Rahul Gandhi: BJP leader Ramesh Dogra accuses Cong leader of ‘defaming’ PM Modi | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: A BJP leader from Himachal Pradesh, Rakesh Dogra, on Thursday lodged a complaint seeking the registration of an FIR against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of defaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi and jeopardising the country’s sovereignty, unity, and integrity.
Dogra, who heads the BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha in the state, submitted the complaint at the Chhota Shimla police station, citing a letter sent by BJP president J P Nadda to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge.
The complaint follows a letter from Kharge to Prime Minister Modi, urging him to take action against NDA members who had allegedly made offensive and violent remarks about Gandhi.

In response, Nadda sent a three-page letter to Kharge on Wednesday, detailing over 110 instances in the past decade where Gandhi had made what he described as abusive and defamatory statements against Modi.
Nadda stated in his letter that it was regrettable that even the top leadership of the Congress was involved in making such remarks. “In the past 10 years, Gandhi abused the prime minister more than 110 times, and it is a matter of regret that even the top leadership of the Congress party was involved in it,” Nadda said.

In his complaint, Dogra pointed out that Nadda’s letter was clear and “self-explanatory,” outlining the harmful comments made by Gandhi and the Congress under his influence. He urged the authorities to take appropriate legal steps.
“I urge you to investigate the matter and take appropriate legal action by registering an FIR against Rahul Gandhi under relevant sections,” Dogra said in his complaint.
According to BJP state media in-charge Karan Nanda, Dogra’s complaint was filed in response to Gandhi’s recent remarks about Modi, which allegedly not only damaged the prime minister’s reputation but also threatened the country’s sovereignty.
