NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday said no bunkers in Jammu and Kashmir were needed as the government would respond with a shell if even a bullet is fired from across the border — an apparent reference to Pakistan, which has a notorious past for violating ceasefire agreement.
“Now, bunkers are not needed because no one can dare to fire bullets. Agar wahan see goli aayi to goli ka jawab gole se diya jayega,” the Union home minister said while addressing a rally at Nowshera in poll-bound Jammu and Kashmir.
Amit Shah also tore into the Abdullah family for suggesting to have a dialogue with Pakistan and batting for the restoration of Article 370, which gave special status to the Vally before the PM Modi-led government scrapped it on August 5, 2019.
“Farooq Sahab, Article cannot be back for the generations to come. They want to bring back Shiekh Abdullah’s (Farooq Abdullah‘s father) flag… Only our Tricolour will wave in Jammu and Kashmir. They want us to have a dialogue with Pakistan… We are not in favour of having a dialogue with Pakistan till terrorism comes to an end,” said Amit Shah.
Thumping his government’s achievement in curbing the terrorism and arson in Kashmir, Shah said: “They (Abdualla family) want to free the terrorists from jails… But the Narendra Modi government has buried terrorism very deeply… any terrorist or stone pelter will not be freed from jail”.
Intensifying his attack on Farooq Abdullah, who has also served as J&K CM, Amit Shah said that when Jammu and Kashmir was going through the phase of curfew and killings, the NC chief was holidaying in London.
“Terrorism continued in Jammu and Kashmir for 30 years, curfew was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir for 3 thousand days in 30 years, 40 thousand people were killed… Farooq Sahab, where were you during those days?” asked Amit Shah while slamming the ex-J&K CM.
“Let me tell you, when Kashmir was burning, Farooq Sahib was comfortably holidaying in London. Modiji came and we wiped out the terrorists one by one,” claimed the Union home minister.
Shah also attacked Abudulla’s ally and Congress scion Rahul Gandhi, saying they have an agenda “to take away the reservations”.
“Their (Congress, NC) agenda is to take away the reservations. Rahul Gandhi goes to the US and says that these people (paharis) have developed now and they don’t need reservations. I want to tell him that the reservation will stay. We (BJP) abrogated Article 370. (NC president) Farooq Abdullah says that they will bring it back. However, I want to tell everyone that no one can bring it back again,” Shah said.
