NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted simultaneous raids across 12 locations in West Bengal on Tuesday, including one in Kolkata, targeting individuals suspected of having links to Maoist groups.
The raids were carried out across various locations including Netaji Nagar, Panihati, Barrackpore, Sodepur, and Asansol, in connection with the alleged involvement of two women and their associates with Maoists, sources told news agency PTI.
“These women had allegedly siphoned off funds sent to them for spreading Maoist networks in eastern India. These raids are underway to find out the exact roles these people were playing in the Maoist organisation,” the source added.
Several documents were seized during the raids, and further investigations are ongoing.
More details awaited.
