Several people feared dead on Tuesday after a school bus carrying children caught fire on the outskirts of the capital Bangkok at Thani province in Thailand.
The school bus was carrying 44 people including students and teacher, authorities said, news agency AFP reported.
According to the Transport minister, Suriya Juangroongruangkit a total of nineteen people, including sixteen students and three teachers, were sent to a medical facility for treatment.The reasons behind the incident are currently under investigation, the minister added.
Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra in a statement confirmed that there were fatalities and extended condolences to the victims’ families.
Sharing a post on X, she said, “As a mother, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the families.”
The condition of the other passengers remains uncertain, as authorities have not yet confirmed the exact number of those who died in the fire.
