NEW DELHI: An IAF helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing in Bihar‘s Muzaffarpur district on Wednesday due to a technical issue.
The Advanced Light Helicopter was returning from Darbhanga after delivering relief supplies, a senior police officer said.
“The helicopter made an emergency landing in a water-logged area in Aurai block. All the occupants were IAF personnel and they were pulled out by locals by the time officials reached the spot,” he said.
Subrat Kumar Sen, the District Magistrate, stated that the four occupants seemed to be safe and uninjured.”However, as a precaution, they are being taken to a local hospital for check-up and treatment, if required,” he added.
The disaster management department has reported that the floods in the state have affected 11.84 lakh people, spread across 368 panchayats in 78 blocks of 16 districts.
In the affected areas, approximately 840 boats are being utilized, including 10 boat ambulances to assist those facing medical emergencies.
The disaster management department has reported that 12,400 people are currently staying in 24 relief camps, while 208 community kitchens are providing food to 86,900 people.
