NEW DELHI: Acting on her request, Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan has been shifted to the departmental standing committee on labour, days after she was nominated to the committee on communications and information technology headed by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey.
Sources said Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, who was also nominated to the committee headed by Dubey, has urged to be shifted to another panel.
Bachchan has been nominated to the panel on labour in place of TMC Rajya Sabha member Saket Gokhle, who has been shifted to the communications and information technology committee, they said.TMC’s leader in Lok Sabha Sudeep Bandhopadhyay has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to shift Moitra from the panel headed by Dubey, sources said.
The Rajya Sabha secretariat had issued a gazette notification on Sept 26, forming all departmental committees of the Parliament. Dubey and Moitra, who had a running fight that resulted in termination of the TMC MP’s membership of the Lok Sabha over cash-for-query charges, were members of the communications and information technology panel in the previous session, when it was headed by Congress’s Shashi Tharoor.
