Mysuru/Bengaluru: Two days after BM Parvathi, wife of chief minister Siddaramaiah, voluntarily returned the 14 sites she received as compensation for land lost in Kesare, Mysore Urban Development Authority (Muda) officially reclaimed eight of those sites. Ownership was transferred back to Muda through cancellation of sale deeds.
Some 24,000sqft of the total 38,000sqft of land Muda had awarded to Parvathi has now reverted to the urban authority, official encumbrance certificate records showed Thursday. The eight sites in Vijayanagar III Stage are now registered under the name of Muda’s secretary.
The original registration of 14 sites in Parvathi’s name took place between Dec 2021 and Jan 2022. However, following a case registered on Sept 27 against her, Siddaramaiah, her brother Mallikarjuna Swamy, and others, Parvathi chose to surrender the plots on Sept 30. In a public statement, she remarked that no property was worth more than her husband’s honour and peace of mind, given the accusations that Siddaramaiah had misused his office to acquire the sites.
AN Raghunandan, Muda commissioner, said the urban body swiftly initiated the process to recover the land after receiving Parvathi’s letter on Tuesday. The cancellation of sale deeds followed standard procedures, as outlined by an officer from the department of stamps and registration, involving an online application and the payment of stamp duty.
In a related development, Lokayukta police, led by SP TJ Udesh, inspected Muda records pertaining to the transactions involving Kesare survey numbers 464 and 462. The inspection, which began at noon, went on until the evening. The Lokayukta team is expected to obtain certified copies of the relevant documents and present a report to a special court by Dec 25.
ED questions petitioner
Enforcement Directorate (ED) Thursday recorded the statement of Snehamayi Krishna, social activist and petitioner against chief minister Siddaramaiah and others in the Muda case. Following a summons from ED, Krishna appeared on Thursday morning before sleuths who questioned him until the evening. They collected documents pertaining to the case from him. Sources say the documents will be verified and necessary action taken.
Advocate files complaint
Advocate Pradeep Kumar SP filed a complaint with the ED, seeking action against persons involved in “trying to destroy evidence” in the Muda case involving chief minister Siddaramaiah. This comes after Muda began the process of reclaiming the 14 sites allotted to BM Parvathi, Siddaramaiah’s wife . In his complaint, Kumar accused Siddaramaiah of using his official position to “tamper with records and destroy evidence through Muda official”. Kumar called for the immediate arrest of the accused persons before “the entire evidence is destroyed”.
