The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said on Saturday that it conducted a military operation in southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah infrastructure and personnel.
Soldiers from the Commando Brigade and the elite Yahalom Unit were involved in the mission, IDF said.
“The fighters, guided by intelligence, raided above-ground and underground terrorist infrastructures in mountainous, dense, booby-trapped, and urban areas.They located and destroyed stockpiles of weapons, observation posts, missiles, and launch sites of the Hezbollah terrorist organization aimed at Israeli territory,” IDF said in a post on X.
During the operation, the IDF troops successfully destroyed multiple tunnel shafts that were allegedly used by Hezbollah militants to get close to the Israeli border area. Additionally, the Israeli soldiers discovered and destroyed underground caches of weapons, observation posts, and sites used for launching rockets, all located in southern Lebanon.
According to the IDF, the commandos also coordinated airstrikes that resulted in the deaths of numerous Hezbollah operatives. “In close cooperation with the Air Force that included the use of drones and advanced weaponry, the commando formation forces and Air Force aircraft eliminated dozens of terrorists,” IDF said.
