Harsh Goenka, chairman of RPG Enterprises, has jumped into the recent online feud between Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal and comedian Kunal Kamra. Goenka seemed to have thrown weight behind Aggarwal via a post on social media platform X with clever wordplay.
“If I have to travel close distances, I mean from one ‘kamra’ to another, I use my Ola,” Goenka said in a post on X, sharing an image of him sitting on an Ola electric scooter.
Online spat between Bhavish Aggarwal and Kunal Kamra
Goenka’s comment comes soon after Aggarwal and Kamra got in an online argument after the comedian raised concerns about the service centre situation of the company’s electric scooters. Kamra shared an image of a large number of EV scooters outside an Ola service centre.
In his post, he tagged Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, asking “is this how Indians will get to using EV’s? @jagograhakjago any word?”.
The Ola CEO replied to Kamra’s post, asking him to come and help. The online spat escalated with both Aggarwal and Kamra replaying to each other.
Ola Electric gets show cause notice over consumer complaints
The spat did not go unnoticed and Ola Electric received a show-cause notice from the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) against poor conditions at its service centres across the country.
The show-cause notice pointed out user complaints related to manufacturing defects, partial or no refunds on booking cancellations, recurring defects despite servicing, overcharging, inaccurate invoices, and multiple issues with batteries and vehicle components.
As per the notice, the Bhavish Aggarwal-run EV company is required to respond to the notice within 15 days of receipt.
Ola Electric shares rise 5%
After the spat, Ola Electric’s shares fell 9% on Monday. However, it picked up on Tuesday and closed at Rs 95.46 with an increase of 5.11% on BSE.
