‘Massive campaign was unleashed against my brother’: Priyanka Gandhi thanks Wayanad for ‘recognising’ Rahul | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday lauded the voters of Wayanad constituency for supporting her brother Rahul Gandhi while an alleged campaign to tarnish his reputation was unleashed.
While addressing a public gathering in Wayanad, Priyanka said that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is grateful to the people of Wayanad as they made a bond of love with him.

“A massive campaign was unleashed against my brother (Rahul Gandhi) to tarnish his reputation. Lots of money and lots of resources were poured into that campaign. There was a time when everybody was turning their back on him and at that time all of you loved him, voted for him and supported him,” Priyanka said.
“Whatever everyone is seeing today, you saw it earlier. You recognised this man and his fight much before others saw it. People of Wayanad made a bond of love with him and he is grateful for that,” she added.
Earlier, Priyanka Gandhi signed nominations papers for the upcoming Lok Sabha bypoll in Wayanad, marking her plunge into electoral politics.
The Wayanad Lok Sabha seat became vacant after Rahul Gandhi, who won the Lok Sabha polls from there and Raebareli constituency, decided to retain the latter.
Priyanka is pitted against LDF‘s Sathyan Mokeri, who is INDIA bloc ally and BJP’s Navya Haridas. Voting in Wayanad is scheduled for November 13.
