Grenade thrown at Sunday market in Srinagar.
NEW DELHI: Militants on Sunday attacked the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) and weekly market in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir with a grenade. The incident resulted in injuries to five individuals.
The attack took place in a crowded flea market in the heart of the city near the heavily-guarded TRC. Authorities quickly responded to the scene and provided immediate medical assistance to the injured.
This comes a day after a top Pakistani commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was eliminated by security forces in the Khanyar locality of downtown Srinagar.
The explosion caused panic in the area and sent shoppers scrambling for cover.
