Yuvraj Singh clarifies speculations on contesting Lok Sabha elections | Off the field News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Former India cricket star Yuvraj Singh took to social media late Friday to dispel rumors regarding his candidacy in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Gurdaspur, Punjab.
Contrary to widespread media reports, Singh affirmed that he would not be entering the political arena, opting instead to continue his philanthropic endeavors through his foundation, You We Can.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Yuvraj Singh addressed the swirling speculation, stating, “Contrary to media reports, I’m not contesting elections from Gurdaspur. My passion lies in supporting and helping people in various capacities, and I will continue to do so through my foundation You We Can. Let’s continue making a difference together to the best of our abilities.”

Reports had surfaced earlier suggesting Singh’s potential candidacy with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after his recent meeting with BJP leader and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. However, Singh’s clarification puts an end to the conjecture surrounding his political ambitions.
One of India’s cricketing icons, Yuvraj’s journey marked by his stellar performances in the 2011 World Cup and his subsequent battle with cancer followed by a triumphant return to the sport, has made him an emblem of resilience and inspiration.
Singh’s resilience and determination in overcoming adversity have earned him admiration both on and off the field. While some fans may have anticipated his foray into politics, his dedication to charitable work underscores his desire to continue making a positive impact in society.
