Internet ban extended in 7 Manipur districts | India News – Times of India

The Manipur govt extended on Saturday the suspension of mobile internet services for two more days in seven districts – West, Imphal East, Kakching, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi, reports Prabin Kalita.
Broadband and mobile internet services were initially suspended on Nov 16 following the violence that erupted after the bodies of six Meitei women and children, allegedly abducted by militants, were found floating in Barak river in restive Jiribam district. The suspension was for a 48-hour period to prevent miscreants from sharing content that could escalate the unrest. It has subsequently been extended multiple times. The restriction on broadband services was lifted on Nov 19.
