Students allege nightlong ragging at AIIMS-Raipur | India News – Times of India

RAIPUR: MBBS students at AIIMS-Raipur have alleged that they were ragged through the night on Nov 16, causing a few girls to fall unconscious after being forced to stand till 3am.
A group of students have written anonymously to Supreme Court lawyer Meera Patel, who is the convenor and legal head of ‘Society Against Violence in Education (SAVE), naming a few seniors as their harassers. She passed on the complaint to the institute and demanded immediate action.
The complainants, from MBBS 2023 batch, have alleged their seniors ordered them into a room around midnight and then forced them to march onto the basketball ground in the cold, clad ‘only in T-shirts’. The juniors say they were abused for an apparent ‘security breach’. Their phones were taken away and the hazing went on till 3am in the presence of security guards, they have alleged .
AIIMS-Raipur spokesperson Mrityunjay Rathore told TOI that the institute has a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and juniors and seniors are on separate campuses. The anti-ragging committee is inquiring into the anonymous complaint. Dr Rakesh Gupta from Indian Medical Association, Raipur, said it was a matter of great concern as it’s the second case of ragging at AIIMS-Raipur.
