Security upped in violence-hit Sambhal ahead of Friday prayers | Bareilly News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Security measures have been heightened around the Shahi Jama Masjid in Uttar Pradesh‘s Sambhal ahead of the Friday prayers, following recent tensions in the area.
The deployment of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) has added an additional layer of vigilance, ensuring law and order in the district.

The precautionary steps come in the wake of a violent stone-pelting incident that took place during the Archaeological Survey of India’s (ASI) examination of the Mughal-era mosque on November 24.

The clashes resulted in the loss of five lives and left several others injured, including local residents and officials involved in the survey.
In response to the incident, Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel has established a three-member Judicial Inquiry Commission, led by justice Devendra Kumar Arora (Retired) of the Allahabad high court.
The commission aims to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a plea filed by the Sambhal Shahi Jama Masjid Committee on Friday.
According to the cause list of November 29 uploaded on the apex court website, a bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna is scheduled to hear the plea filed by the Committee of Management, Shahi Jama Masjid, Sambhal.
