NEW DELHI: Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma emphasised the importance of coordination among North-East states, stating that many areas require collaborative efforts.
Speaking to TOI on the sidelines of Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav on Saturday, Sangma urged Centre to institutionalise the event as a regular feature, recognising its role in fostering connections among states, the ministry of development of north eastern region, and stakeholders. He highlighted that such platforms could unlock the region’s vast potential, particularly in tourism, horticulture, food processing, IT, and education.
Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang echoed the sentiment, emphasising importance of regional collaboration, infrastructural investment, digital connectivity, and youth empowerment to harness North-East’s potential for national progress.
The second day of event at Bharat Mandapam, Delhi, featured a discussion titled “Towards Prosperity: Catalysing North East’s Progress for a Viksit Bharat,” with Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sangma, Tamang, and Tripura CM Manik Saha on the panel. The discussion revolved around leveraging technology, trade, and tourism to drive sustainable development in northeast region.
