NEW DELHI: The second Test against India in Adelaide turned into a memorable outing for Australian skipper Pat Cummins as he delivered a match-winning five-wicket haul, his eighth as captain.
In India’s second innings, desperately seeking a solid lead, Cummins led the charge, dismantling their batting line-up with figures of 5/57 in 14 overs at an economy rate of 4.10.
Cummins’ victims included KL Rahul, skipper Rohit Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Harshit Rana. India managed only an 18-run lead.

Cummins now stands alongside Bishan Singh Bedi, with both captains having claimed eight five-wicket hauls in Test cricket.
Only Imran Khan (12) and Richie Benaud (9) have more five-wicket hauls as captains in Test history.

Cummins also achieved a personal milestone, completing 50 wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
In 14 matches, he has taken 56 wickets at an average of 25.39, with his best figures being 6/27.

His tally includes two five-wicket hauls in the series, making him the eighth-highest wicket-taker in Border-Gavaskar Trophy history. Nathan Lyon leads the chart with 118 wickets in 28 matches at an average of 32.91.
In pink-ball Tests, Cummins continues to excel, now ranking as the third-highest wicket-taker with 41 scalps at an average of 17.60 and best figures of 6/23.
He trails only teammate Mitchell Starc, who tops the list with 74 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 18.14.
