NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee on Tuesday criticised both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, blaming them for repeated disruptions in parliamentary proceedings.
He accused the two major parties of sidelining smaller political groups and stalling democratic discourse.
Speaking to ANI, Banerjee said, “This is not proper… There are so many parties. Parliamentary democracy does not depend upon the Congress and the BJP.”

He added, “The House is adjourned because of the Congress and the BJP. The House will continue only on the choice of the Congress and the BJP… This is not proper.”
Banerjee highlighting the challenges faced by smaller parties said, “One day Congress wants to continue, and the BJP is disturbing. One day BJP is trying to continue, and the Congress is disturbing. And the rest of the parties can’t speak anywhere.” He also criticised the preferential treatment given to the BJP as the ruling party and the Congress as the main opposition, stating, “We can’t point out the conditions of the state. This is not appreciatable.”
When a reporter pointed out that the Congress is also part of the INDIA bloc, Banerjee responded sharply, saying, “Na na forget about that, this is your agenda not mine. I will ask the speaker to look into this. In this house there are not only BJP people and Congress people. There are others also.”
