Nanakmatta gurdwara kar sewa pramukh shot dead in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar | Dehradun News – Times of India



RUDRAPUR: In a shocking act of violence, Baba Tarsem Singh, the Dera Kar Seva Pramukh of Nanakmatta Gurdwara in Udham Singh Nagar district, was gunned down early in the morning. Nanakmatta is a prominent Sikh pilgrimage spot.
According to eyewitnesses, at approximately 6 am, two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle entered the Dera’s open gates and opened fire at Baba Tarsem Singh, who was seated on a chair inside.
The incident left Baba Tarsem critically injured, and despite being rushed to Khatima hospital, doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Police officials said they are investigating the reasons for the killing, which could be due to internal rivalry.
District SSP Manjunath TC reached the spot on information and mobilised eight police teams to investigate the matter. Additionally, an SIT is being formed at the Police Headquarters in Dehradun to ensure a thorough inquiry, officials said.
SSP Manjunath said, “We are committed to apprehending the perpetrators and bringing them to justice swiftly. Three gun shells of .315 bore have been recovered from the spot which indicate that country-made pistols were used in the shooting.”
Meanwhile, tension gripped the area as supporters of Baba Tarsem Singh gathered at the dera, demanding swift action.
