Farmer attempts to speak using the system after garlanding the minister with onions

NASHIK: A farmer attending the rally of Maharashtra fisheries minister Nitesh Rane at a programme in Baglan taluka on Monday night presented a garland of onions to the minister as part of a protest against the falling prices of onions in the district.
The Jaikheda police of the Baglan taluka immediately pulled the farmer down and detained him for a few hours before releasing him.
Nitesh Rane was in Chirai village of Baglan taluka, where he was addressing the people at a programme organised for ‘Paduka Darshan of Sant Nivrittinath Maharaj’ at about 9 pm on Monday.
Just then, the farmer named Mahindra Lahu Suryavanshi got access to the stage and presented the garland of onions to the minister. He also attempted to address the people, but the police whisked him away.
The police registered a case against the farmer under section 223 of Bharti Nyaya Sanhita, related to the offence of disobeying an order issued by a public servant.
The police said the farmer was detained for a few hours and released after serving him the notice.
