Congress Bilaspur district president Vijay Kesharwani ended his hunger strike by offering him water and juice, and assured him on behalf of the senior Congress leadership of considering his demands.
Yadav has been nominated as the candidate from the Bilaspur Lok Sabha seat, sparking opposition in Bilaspur. Kaushik began his hunger strike, abstaining from food and water, in front of the Congress Bhawan on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Congress leader and Kota legislator Atal Shrivastava, along with other Congress leaders, arrived to persuade and reason with him, but he did not agree.
On Thursday morning, Jagdish Kaushik’s wife arrived at the Congress building with their two sons. In a show of solidarity with her husband, she also threatened to fast along with her children.
Subsequently, they all sat in front of the Congress building. Kaushik’s wife emphasized that her husband has been tirelessly working for the Congress party and should be given a ticket. She declared that until her husband’s demand is met, she would also fast with her children, holding the Congress party responsible for any adverse outcomes.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Congress district president Kesharwani hurriedly arrived at the Congress building. Meanwhile, senior Congress leaders have reportedly assured Kaushik of considering his demands, stating that he would be assigned some significant responsibility within the party.
Upon learning about Kaushik breaking his hunger strike, Lok Sabha candidate and MLA from Bhilai, Devendra Yadav, also reached the Congress building with his supporters. He provided juice to Jagdish Kaushik and engaged in a discussion, seeking cooperation in the upcoming elections.
