Amit Shah takes holy dip at Triveni Sangam, Prayagraj

NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Monday visited Prayagraj for a one-day trip, where he took holy dip at the Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed Shah upon his arrival in the city.
Amit Shah was joined by UP CM Yogi Adityanath, yoga guru Baba Ramdev and seers as he performed a ritual bath at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers in Kumbh city.

Shah also engaged with seers from the Akhara and performed a Puja.
Ahead of his holy bath, Shah shared a message in Hindi on X, “‘Mahakumbh’ is a unique symbol of the continuous flow of Sanatan culture. The Kumbh showcases the life philosophy of Sanatan Dharma, which is rooted in harmony.”
“I am eager to take a dip at Sangam and receive the blessings from saints at this great festival of unity and integrity in the holy city of Prayagraj,” he added.
The Mahakumbh Mela, held every 12 years, is drawing a massive number of devotees to Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26.

The event, which began on January 13 with the auspicious Paush Purnima, has already seen more than 110 million pilgrims taking a holy dip in the sacred waters of the Triveni Sangam during the first 14 days.
Devotees come to the Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the extinct Saraswati river, to immerse themselves in the waters, a ritual believed to cleanse sins and grant moksha (liberation).
This year, the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj is expected to welcome over 45 crore visitors before it ends on February 26.
