MEERUT: A major accident occurred during the Nirvana Laddu Festival of Lord Adinath in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, when a wooden platform in the Manastambha complex collapsed, trapping over 50 devotees underneath, officials said on Tuesday.
The collapse caused chaos and panic at the site, with several devotees reportedly injured. Rescue operations are underway, and authorities are assessing the situation.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident.
CM directed the officials to immediately reach the spot and expedite the relief work and also gave instructions for proper treatment of the injured. Along with this, he also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
