NEW DELHI: The Ram Janmabhoomi Temple management committee in Ayodhya on Tuesday issued an advisory requesting local devotees to postpone their visits for 15-20 days amid “unprecedented increase” in visitors.
The temple committee also said that a large number of devotees are also traveling from Prayagraj to Ayodhya via train and road due to the ongoing Maha Kumbh.
“The ‘Mukhya Snan’ (main bathing ritual) for Mauni Amavasya at Kumbh in Prayagraj will take place on January 29, 2025. “Over the past three days, there has been an unprecedented increase in the number of devotees arriving in Ayodhya. Considering the population and size of Ayodhya Dham, it is becoming increasingly difficult to ensure darshan of Prabhu Shri Ram Lalla for such a massive number of devotees in a single day, causing inconvenience to many. As a result, necessary adjustments in arrangements are being made to avoid any untoward incidents. Devotees are also facing the need to walk longer distances,” it added.
The committee further requested local devotees to let those coming from distant places to have an easier darshan experience at present.
“We humbly request devotees from nearby areas to plan their visit to Ayodhya 15-20 days later, allowing those coming from distant places to have an easier darshan experience at present. This will ensure convenience for everyone,” it said.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has stepped up security as it gears up for the ‘Amrit Snan’ on ‘Mauni Amavasya’ on Wednesday, which is expected to draw around 10 crore pilgrims to the Maha Kumbh in just a day. The Maha Kumbh 2025 has already witnessed over 15 crore pilgrims taking a holy dip in the past 17 days, the state government said.
The Maha Kumbh, being held after 12 years, kicked off on January 13 and will continue till February 26. The Uttar Pradesh government, which is hosting the mega event, expects a footfall between 40 and 45 crore during the period.
