BHOPAL: Several shots were fired in the air to celebrate the awarding of a toll plaza contract at the Ratirampura toll plaza in the Dimni area of Morena district in Madhya Pradesh.
Police came to know about the incident after a video went viral on social media.
On January 19, members of the Rajoria family, who had recently secured the contract, fired shots with their licensed firearms.
The group also recorded the incident and posted the video on social media, where it quickly went viral.
Four of the accused were arrested from their homes on the night of Monday-Tuesday, while a fifth suspect remains unidentified and is being actively sought. Those who fired shots were later seen apologizing to the police, fearing the cancellation of both their arms licenses and the toll plaza contract.
However, the police have seized the firearms used in the incident and initiated the process of canceling the arms licenses of those arrested.
Officials say that a formal request has been sent to the collector, recommending the cancellation of the toll plaza contract to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
Those arrested were identified as Subhash Pathak, resident of Nainagarh Road, Morena, Shivdayal alias Bunty Rajouria, resident of Jabar Kheda village, Amar Tiwari alias Pinta, resident of Sharma Gali, Gopalpur, Morena, Shailendra Pathak, resident of Pati Gali, Morena.
