Salesforce is reportedly planning to cut over 1,000 jobs as part of its ongoing restructuring efforts, according to a Bloomberg News report. The company is simultaneously hiring new employees to support its expansion into AI-driven products.
The report indicates that displaced workers will have the opportunity to apply for other positions within the company. However, it remains unclear which divisions will be most affected by the job cuts. Salesforce, which had 72,682 employees as of January 31, 2024, has not yet commented on the report.
This move comes after Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff announced in December 2024 that the company had closed more than 1,000 paid deals for its AI-powered virtual representative platform, “Agentforce”. The company had previously laid off about 700 employees in January 2024 and an additional 300 in July 2024.
Salesforce is set to report its quarterly earnings on February 26, 2025. The company’s decision to cut jobs while expanding its AI product offerings reflects the broader trend of tech companies balancing workforce reductions with investments in new technologies.
