NEW DELHI: Supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) erupted in jubilation outside the party’s Delhi headquarters as early counting trends indicated a decisive return to power in the national capital after more than 26 years.
Celebrations were in full swing as BJP workers danced to the beats of ‘dhol,’ waved party flags, and smeared each other with saffron powder, creating a festive atmosphere.Cutouts of the lotus, the party’s election symbol, were proudly displayed by supporters.
BJP leads in 41 seats, AAP trails with 29
As per the latest trends from the Election Commission, the BJP was leading in 41 out of Delhi’s 70 assembly seats, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead in 29 constituencies.
Virendra Sachdeva, BJP’s Delhi president, expressed confidence in the party forming the next government in Delhi. “The next chief minister will be from the BJP. The central leadership will decide who it will be,” he stated, emphasizing that the results were in line with the party’s expectations.
BJP candidates express optimism
Ramesh Bidhuri, BJP’s candidate from Kalkaji, who was leading AAP’s Atishi, shared the party’s optimism. “The people of Delhi will give the BJP a decisive mandate. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Delhi will progress along with the rest of the country. AAP will be eliminated from the national capital,” Bidhuri confidently asserted.
The final results are eagerly awaited as the BJP inches closer to securing a historic victory.
