‘Used to have meetings with workers’: Priyanka Gandhi recalls managing elections for Sonia, Rahul Gandhi | India News – The Times of India

NEW DELHI: Congress leader and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday recalled having managed elections for mother Sonia Gandhi and brother Rahul for in Amethi and Raebareli for “many years”.
Addressing the party workers in Malappuram, Kerala, Priyanka said, “For many years, I managed the elections of Sonia ji and Rahul ji in Raebareli and Amethi. When I first went to Amethi for my mother’s elections, there was no organisation on the ground. In 1999, I used to campaign in the daytime and have meetings with workers. So that is how I learnt the importance of people who work on the ground.”
“So I want to thank you all, the whole Congress organisation, who continuously worked together as one team,” she added.

Later, talking about the man-animal conflict in her Parliamentary constituency, she said, “I have already raised this issue once, and I will continue to do so. I believe it is something we need to look into carefully. It’s a complex issue with no easy solutions, but I will certainly apply as much pressure as possible and raise it at every opportunity.”
“We also need more funding. During my last visit here, I met with the District Magistrate and forest officials, and we discussed the challenges, particularly the lack of funding from both the Centre and the state,” she added.
Priyanka entered mainstream politics in 2024 after she decided to contest for the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypolls. The seat was previously held by Rahul Gandhi, who decided to keep the Raebareli seat after emerging victorious from both the constituencies in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
