AMRITSAR: Punjab Police arrested three men allegedly responsible for an explosion near Fatehgarh Churian police outpost on February 3. Two of them received bullet injuries during a failed attempt to flee police custody.
Amritsar’s police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar on Monday said accused Lovepreet Singh ‘Labha’, Karandeep Singh ‘Karan’, and Buta Singh are from Ajnala and Rajasansi near Amritsar: “During interrogation, they admitted to have been involved in the attack. They used a wrapped material that, upon impact, produced a loud noise, causing panic.”
Police said one Harpreet Singh ‘Happy Pashian’ provided funding and automatic weapons to the trio through local contacts. Bhullar claimed Buta was in direct contact with Pashian, and through him, Labha and Karan also connected with the ‘kingpin’.
Based on their inputs, police recovered an AK-47 rifle, a pistol and ammunition from Ajnala and Rajasansi.
