Rajat Dalal has spoken about Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia. Following the filing of an FIR against the two comedians, police have apprehended them and summoned them for questioning. While Samay has agreed, Ranveer has yet to reveal himself. Both Samay and Ranveer apologised to the public, and Samay even removed any content linked to India’s Got Latent following the comment. Rajat defended Samay in particular, but they also underlined the need to be cognizant of content. This is what he said…
Rajat Dalal revealed his relationship with Samay Raina in an interview with Siddharth Kannan. He has a tight relationship with Samay and considers him a decent man and brother who has corrected him in the past. He noted that because children find abusive language cool, the culture has grown (and put pressure on creators to provide stuff that consistently hits the mark).
He said, “Samay and I have been close, he has always called me when I was wrong and as a brother, he would advise me. Nowadays, people have started enjoying the abuse. Even kids find it cool. If you saw there was Rebel Kid, she used abuses in each sentence and all of them were clapping. There is nothing to laugh. People are promoting it and I feel that is not right.”
However, as a society, Rajat condemned Samay and Ranveer’s remarks. He also mentioned that the latter had copied a comment from another English podcast. “Itne logon ke saath aap podcast kar chuke ho toh thoda dekh ke bolna chahiye,” Rajat added, adding that he is almost done with using foul language in his work.
Rajat says he doesn’t believe in social media since it’s full of bots and instead wants to know what people think on the ground. “Mera maanna hai ki agar koi aage aakar maafi maangta hai, bhug-taan karta hai toh yaar galti toh insaan se hi hoti hai,” he remarked, admitting that he has made numerous blunders in life. The influencer then questioned the ban culture, stating that if everyone is penalised for making a mistake, how can society function? He feels there will be legal ramifications, which the couple may have to face.
