Elon Musk is back with his favorite title for OpenAI CEO Sam Altman — ‘Scam Altman‘. Tesla CEO Elon Musk called CEO of ChatGPT maker Sam Altman ‘Scam Altman’. Elon Musk called Sam Altman ‘Scam Altman’ quoting a video of OpenAI CEO while he was answering questions at the US Senate Judiciary subcommittee. The video has been shared on Twitter by Tesla Owners Silicon Valley handle. In the testimony dated May 16, 2023, Sam Altman says that he owns no equity in OpenAI and that he is doing this for “love”.
“Do you make a lot of money, do you?,” Altman was asked, to which he responded by saying, “No. I’m paid enough for health insurance. I have no equity in OpenAI.” Sam Altman went on to add: “I’m doing this because I love it.”
The other names that Elon Musk has called Sam Altman are “Swindler” and “Liar”.
Elon Musk and Sam Altman were once partners at OpenAI and have been locked in a public dispute over OpenAI’s direction for a few years now. The public spat between the two billionaires — Sam Altman and Elon Musk — took another turn recently when the Elon Musk-led consortium made a $97.4 billion offer to buy the non-profit entity controlling Altman’s OpenAI. No surprises here that Elon Musk leads this almost $100 billion unsolicited bid for OpenAI’s nonprofit arm.
Last year, Elon Musk sued OpenAI for what he claimed became a “closed-source de facto subsidiary” of its investor Microsoft, following up in November with a preliminary injunction to stop the “market-paralyzing gorgon” OpenAI from becoming a for-profit entity.
Sam Altman retaliates calling Elon Musk ‘insecure and unhappy’ person
Altman rebuffed the bid. Mocking the offer on Twitter, he wrote: “no thank you but we will buy twitter for $9.74 billion if you want”. In an interview to Bloomberg, he added that OpenAI is “not for sale” and that it is the latest of “tactics, many, many lawsuits, all sorts of other crazy stuff, now this” for the “competitor” Elon Musk to “slow us down.”
Seething Altman went on to add that he doesn’t believe Musk is a “happy person” and Musk’s “whole life is from a position of insecurity — I feel for the guy.”
