Pune bus rape case accused detained in Shirur: Police | India News – The Times of India


NEW DELHI: Police apprehended a man in Shirur Tehsil early Friday for allegedly raping a 26-year-old woman inside a bus at Pune’s Swargate bus station.
Dattatray Gade was taken into custody around midnight from Pune’s Shirur tehsil, according to PTI reports.
The incident occurred early Tuesday morning when Gade (37), a history-sheeter, allegedly assaulted the woman inside an ST bus.
The accused has a criminal record with six cases involving theft, robbery and chain-snatching in Pune and Ahilyanagar district. He had been released on bail in 2019 for one of these offences.
To capture the suspect, authorities deployed thirteen police teams across various locations in the state.
On Thursday, the search operation in Shirur Tehsil, Pune district, involved the use of sniffer dogs and drones to scan through sugarcane fields.
