Rajiv Thakur reacts to Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent controversy and his bond with the comedian; says ‘It was Samay who pushed me to get back to standup comedy’ | – The Times of India

Rajiv Thakur, who has been a seasoned artist on the industry, recently got candid about his bond with Samay Raina in an interaction with Siddharth Kannan, he even reacted to the India’s Got Latent controversy and Samay’s comedy style. Rajiv revealed that it was Samay who pushed him to get back to open mics and started his vlog channel.
Rajiv shared, “After doing so much in my career, I am doing open mics with the budding standup comics. I haven’t seen anyone from TV who decided to restart from zero. But I am doing it. I feel that we are those who started stand-up, it was much later that these stand-up comics became famous. People think in Kapil Sharma show we are all comedians, they aren’t aware about us being stand-up comics. So I want to reach out to them.”
He then got candid about his bond with Samay, “I know Samay personally, he is the one who pushed me to restart stand-up gigs. I met him when he had to come to Kapil’s show. He told us that he has been our huge fan. I learnt from us. He asked me why don’t I do stand-up and he pushed me to do open mics. He then put a show specially for me. He had kept a 30 mins set for both of us and he specially did it for me. He gave me so much of love and respect. Samay is the face of comedy and the love and respect he gives to people is commendable. He shot vlogs, got edited from his team and made vlogs for my YouTube channel. He supported me in starting this new journey. Every Saturday, I have started going for standup gigs. He is a really good guy.”
Rajiv further reacted to India’s Got Latent controversy, “See if I know that I am going to come to your show and I am told that this person will roast you or ask you personal questions. So if I know what I am going for, then I should decide. Go to Latent only if you can take the jokes. See, I go for open mics, so I am also writing fresh sets so that it is more relatable to the GenZ audience. Everyone has their own set of audience. So when you know your audience, there shouldn’t be any problem or to be blamed.”
