Fat-shaming row: Congress’s Shama Mohamed cheers for team India, hails Rohit Sharma captaincy after win against Australia | Delhi News – The Times of India

NEW DELHI: Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed on Tuesday congratulated Team India for their emphatic victory over Australia in the Champions Trophy 2025 semifinals.

“Congratulations to Team India for their spectacular victory against Australia in the semifinals of the Champions Trophy 2025. A big shout out to @imVkohli for scoring 84 and to be the first player to score 1000 runs in ICC knock out tournaments!” Shama Mohamed said.
A day earlier, Mohamed had posted on X that Rohit Sharma “needs to lose weight,” sparking backlash. She later deleted the post.
In the semifinal clash in Dubai, Virat Kohli orchestrated a masterful chase to power India into the final with a four-wicket win, knocking Australia out of the tournament.
India avenged their 2023 ODI World Cup final defeat, making the heartbreak a distant memory with their record-breaking run chase.
By successfully chasing down a 265-run target, India achieved its highest-ever successful chase against Australia in an ICC event, surpassing the 261-run chase in the 2011 World Cup quarter-final.
India approached the chase cautiously, with Shubman Gill looking tentative, while skipper Rohit Sharma stuck to his aggressive style.
Hardik Pandya (28) aimed to finish the game in style but ended up finding Glenn Maxwell. KL Rahul sealed the victory by launching the ball into the stands over wide long-on, sending India to the final.
