LUCKNOW: Impressed with the quick presence of mind shown by the 13-year-old girl who scared away a monkey in the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh, using Amazon’s virtual voice assistant, Alexa, Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra, on Saturday, lavished praise on her.
TOI had reported how the girl, Nikita Pandey, commanded Alexa to bark like a dog, hoping to scare away the monkey that had entered her sister’s home.The tactic worked, and the girl successfully saved both herself and her sister.
Reacting to the incident, Anand Mahindra took to his official X handle and wrote: “The dominant question of our era is whether we will become slaves or masters of technology. The story of this young girl provides comfort that technology will always be an enabler of human ingenuity. Her quick thinking was extraordinary.”
“What she demonstrated was the potential for leadership in an entirely unpredictable world. After she finishes her education, if she ever decides to work in the corporate world, I hope we at @MahindraRise will be able to convince her to join us!!,” he wrote on X.
Nikita, brimming with confidence, told TOI that she wants to work with Anand Mahindra in the future. “I am so happy after coming to know about the offer by the billionaire,” she said. She has just taken her class X exam.
Her father, Dhirendra Pandey, runs a small mobile repairing shop and said that he never imagined in his lifetime that his daughter would earn such a name for herself and the family.
Pankaj Ojha, Nikita’s brother-in-law, said that the ‘Alexa’ was gifted on his birthday to him two years ago. “I never imagined in my wildest dreams that it would give us such a name,” he said.
