NEW DELHI: An FIR was filed against Uttar Pradesh’s Kunda MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh, alias Raja Bhaiya, at Safdarjung Enclave police station in Delhi.
The complaint was filed by his wife, Bhanvi Singh, who accused him of years of physical and mental abuse, stating that the violence caused severe injuries to her body. The couple has been living separately for the past few years.
In her complaint, Bhanvi Singh alleged that she was subjected to continuous physical assault, which led to lasting damage to her body parts. She further claimed that Raja Bhaiya mentally tortured her for years and that she now fears for her life.
Bhanvi Singh also accused her in-laws, including her mother-in-law, of harassment. She stated that despite facing abuse, she initially refrained from taking legal action in an effort to maintain peace in the family and protect her marriage. However, the alleged mistreatment did not stop.
She previously approached the National Commission for Women and the Delhi State Legal Services Authority with similar complaints but did not pursue the matter further.
In August 2023, Bhanvi Singh filed an affidavit in a family court, accusing Raja Bhaiya of domestic violence, abuse, and extramarital affairs spanning nearly three decades.
Further investigation is underway.
