US Vice President JD Vance will be visiting India later this month with his wife Usha Vance, news outlet Politico reported on Tuesday.
This will be Vance’s second international trip following his fiery showdown in Munich Security Conference in France last month.
Earlier, Vance, in his first foreign trip, slammed European leaders for not defending democracy and free speech in their own countries and said that the US is more worried about that in Europe than any external threat from Russia or China.
Vance accused European leaders of ignoring the concerns of their own people, which he said was a “surefire way to destroy democracy”. “In Britain and across Europe free speech I fear is in retreat,” he said.
Usha Vance’s Indian background
Meanwhile, Vance’s wife Usha was born to Indian immigrants, brings a strong legal background and rich Indian cultural values to the partnership. Usha, who was raised in a suburb of San Diego, California, excelled academically throughout her life.
She graduated from Yale University with a bachelor’s degree in History and earned a Master of Philosophy degree from the University of Cambridge.
JD Vance and Usha Vance have three children together: two sons, Ewan and Vivek, and a daughter, Mirabel. The couple met in 2013 while attending Yale Law School, and their relationship blossomed, leading to their marriage just a year later.
