LUCKNOW: UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Sunday fired a broadside at Congress, accusing it of soft-pedaling terrorism, divisive politics, corruption, misgovernance, and working against Hindu sentiments.
“During the Congress government, biryani was served to terrorists, while the poor kept starving. But BJP govt ensured that 80 crore people are covered under PDS and receive ration for free,” Yogi said during public rallies in Rajasthan, mobilising support for BJP candidates in Bharatpur, Dausa, and Sikar Lok Sabha constituencies.
The BJP star campaigner credited PM Narendra Modi with taking the country on the path of development. He said that people are aware the poll outcome will favour Modi.
“Lotus needs to bloom. New India has emerged as a force to reckon with globally. Twenty hardened criminals and terrorists have been killed in Pakistan. Reports in global media outlets suggest India could be behind the strikes. The new India built by Modi knows how to protect borders and citizens of the country,” said Yogi.
He stressed that post-Article 370, peace, harmony, and progress have returned to Kashmir.
“The tenure of Congress was riddled with corruption and confusion. Nothing was clear and firmly done. And now we have clear policies and stances,” said Yogi before the large audience in Bharatpur.
Yogi said Congress always worked against Hindus. “Congress could not get Ram temple constructed in Ayodhya. Congress leaders used to say Ram did not exist. Next to Bharatpur, we have Mathura, Vrindavan, Gokul, Nandgaon, Govardhan, Barsana, but Congress leaders say that Lord Krishna did not exist as well. The opposition has a habit of questioning our history and heritage,” said Yogi.
Reminding the crowd how brave Surajmal, the Jat king of Bharatpur, defeated Aurangzeb and filled the forts of Mughal rulers with straw, Yogi said that the divisive policy of Congress cannot appreciate the valorous past of our rulers.
“Messiah of the farmers, Chaudhary Charan Singh, was awarded Bharat Ratna by the Modi government,” Yogi said.
He claimed a number of educational institutes and hospitals have been set up by Modi govt in several states, and expressed gratitude to people for support. “Without the correct use of vote by electors, we would not have witnessed such a developed and secure India. We would not have got the Ram temple in Ayodhya either,” he said.
