LUCKNOW: In the largest recruitment drive by any state police force, Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) declared the results for 60,244 constable posts on the eve of Holi. Of the successful candidates, 12,048 are women 12,937 from general category, 32,052 from OBC, 14,026 from SC, and 1,229 from ST category.
The recruitment process began with an advertisement released on Dec 23, 2023, inviting 48,17,441 applications for 60,244 constable posts. The written exam was initially conducted across 75 districts on Feb 17 and 18, 2024.
However, following allegations of paper leak and candidate protests, CM Yogi Adityanath cancelled the exam “to maintain the sanctity of the screening exercise” and ordered an STF probe. Renuka Mishra, the then DG of the Recruitment Board, was later removed.
After Rajeev Krishna took over as new DG of Recruitment Board, a re-examination was held in 67 districts in the state across 10 shifts on Aug 23, 24, 25, 30, and 31, 2024. In all, 1,74,317 candidates were called for document verification and physical standards tests held between Dec 26, 2024, and Feb 7, 2025.
Candidates who cleared this stage underwent a physical efficiency test from Feb 10 to Feb 27 this year. Candidates were selected based on their normalised written exam scores and compliance with the state’s reservation policies.
The final merit list has been published on UPPRPB site: https://uppbpb.gov.in. UPPRPB clarified that no waiting list was prepared. A senior police officer said that police headquarters will soon issue dates for the medical and character verification process. Then they will be allotted district centres, followed by a nine-month training program under police training directorate before their final deployment as constables.
