LeBron James suffered a groin injury during the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Boston Celtics game. The Lakers lost the game 111-101 after James had to be sidelined due to the injury. The player was re-evaluated after 24 hours to assess the injury’s progress, and James seems optimistic about his diagnosis. He has already missed two games since and will miss a few more; but with the playoffs so close, the team will not want to take any chances with his recovery by making him play before he is ready.
LeBron James is expected to make a quick recovery
LeBron James is expected to miss at least 1-2 weeks due to the left groin strain he suffered during a game against the Boston Celtics. This injury is not considered as severe as the groin injury he suffered in 2018 against the Golden State Warriors, which kept him out for over a month. But he will still miss a few week’s worth of games before he is recovered fully enough to continue.
James himself seems optimistic about his recovery, stating that he’s taking things one day at a time. As of now, he is expected to join the team at the end of March. He said after the game that he is not very concerned and will take proper measures to make a full recovery.
“Not much concern… Obviously, we’re gonna [take it] day-to-day. Look at it each day and see if gets better, and then take the proper measures and see what we need to do going forward.”
He suffered the injury driving to the basket against Jaylen Brown. Thankfully, it wasn’t as bad as many had thought it to be. James will take a couple of weeks off to charge up before he gets back inside the court.
Luka Doncic will be there to lead the team in LeBron James’ absence
With James out of commission, the Lakers will now have to rely on Luka Doncic to lead the team. As of now, near about 20 games are remaining in the regular season. The team is ready to get to the playoffs soon, and they’ll need Doncic to step up to secure a strong position heading into the postseason.
Before the injury, James was one of the most consistent players in the league this season. But now the Lakers will have to learn to work and play without their supposed leader for a short while. The team is on a 40-24 run currently and is looking to solidify their playoff standing before the postseason starts.
