‘Very much on track’: Day after talks with Putin, Donald Trump dials Zelenskyy ‘to align needs of both Russia and Ukraine’ – The Times of India

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday to discuss Trump’s call with Russian President Vladimir Putin about a ceasefire to end the three-year conflict.
“Just completed a very good telephone call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine. It lasted approximately one hour,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform after the conversation.
The US president added, “Much of the discussion was based on the call made yesterday with President Putin in order to align both Russia and Ukraine in terms of their requests and needs.”

“We are very much on track,” Trump said.
Kyiv confirmed that Zelensky was briefed on the 90-minute call between Trump and Putin on Tuesday.
During a lengthy call on Tuesday, President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to immediately pause strikes on energy and infrastructure targets in the Ukraine war. However, Putin did not fully support the broader 30-day pause in fighting that the US administration is advocating.
Putin agreed in a call with US counterpart Donald Trump Tuesday to halt attacks against Ukrainian energy targets, but refused a full ceasefire unless the West halts all military aid for Kyiv.
Despite both sides saying they supported the temporary truce, Ukraine and Russia accused each other of continuing attacks on energy infrastructure.
Ukraine’s defence ministry reported that Russian missiles and drones hit the country overnight, killing one person and damaging two hospitals.
